The lockdown taught us all a lot about online learning and personally emphasized the power of having resources at your fingers at any given moment as a student. I see myself utilizing an online class forum to post reviews or explanation videos that explicitly concern mathematical concepts and terms. If students do not fully grasp what we learned in class or need a refresher on a topic that is the basis of their homework, I want them to have the tools for success and a deeper understanding. I do not want to leave them to work out their misunderstandings or find the information themselves. Beyond making videos myself, I want students to be comfortable with referencing other videos if they seek further clarification or if another video and its style are better suited for how they internalize information. There is so much to explore online, and I want to share the high points and resources with them so they can utilize them to enhance their learning.

I want to encourage students to get comfortable with recording videos and the elements that go into their production, and I will look to find ways to incorporate opportunities for them to learn how to make videos and have a chance to share their work with others if they would like to do so. I do not agree with guarding children from how to work with technology or how to utilize it until later, and I want to ensure that I am growing their confidence in working with technology as it is the way of the future. If they would like to make a video as a final project and find it a more appropriate way to demonstrate their thought process and learning, I want to foster this. I do not want to limit them to more traditional methods of presentations and projects.

I have attached my go-to YouTube page, CrashCourse, which got me through science in high school when I was totally overwhelmed. I was not absorbing any concepts, and their lectures were very challenging as their classes consisted of reading off of hand-written notes without any visual or other enhancing materials. This video is one example of many videos that delve into various scientific concepts. What works for me is the amount of visuals used to explain each concept, which I keep in mind in the future as I make educational videos to share with my students.
